You can’t have a say in everything.
There’s too much going on in the workplace and too much going on at home for you to be included and involved in everything. We know this to be true, yet we spend so much of our time wishing it wasn’t.
We dedicate time, energy, and attention to wanting to impact things that are beyond our control, fighting a futile battle to sway the unswayable. And in the process of doing so, we are pulled away from being dedicated to the things we can control.
Put forth your best efforts. Do your part. Make it known that you want to contribute.
Then, if you cannot be part of what comes next, accept it and move on. Become a master at what you can control, where your influence lands, and where your voice carries weight.
Refrain from wasting your talent by focusing on the things you cannot control. Redouble your effort where you can make the most significant difference. Over time, if you are committed, the things within your control will expand to include bigger, better, and more prestigious opportunities.
Your time will come, rest assured, but only if you have the energy to rise to the occasion when it does.
Be ready.
